problems bypassing control unit for glow plugs

Well, I'm back. I got my truck all wired up for a momentary switch for my glow plugs. Only one problem the wiring diagram that was given to me doesn't apply to my truck. Mine is an '88 7.3L. they have the control unit and relay both mounted in the center rear of the intake. The wiring is much different. I'm still trying to figure out which wire/wires I need to bypass. There are two large posts and two small. I know that I need to leave the wires to the two large posts alone. On one of the small posts is one white wire which goes to the control unit. On the other small post is two red wires, one goes to the control unit and the other follows a wiring harness back, maybe to my wait to start light?

Does anyone know for sure which wire to by pass? or how to determine which wire to bypass?

Any and all suggestions would be graetly appreciated. :-) Thanks to all!!!

Thank you for the response. But, my dilema is this is the diagram I all ready have. It is for an '86. Ford changed the glowplug system in '87 and my truck is an '88. :-(
Can anyone help me out here?
Thank you! :-)

If you remove all the wires on the small terminals and tape them up.
Install a wire on one of the small terminals that goes to ground.
Install the wire that comes from the switch you installed in the cab to the other small terminal.
The other wire off the switch goes to battery plus terminal, or fuse box plus.

The wait to start light may not work, but your glow plugs will.

Thank you soo much for the response!!! My next question is I'm not sure which small terminal has the ground. The reason I'm not sure is because, as I said before, On one of the small posts is one white wire which goes to the control unit. On the other small post is two red wires, one goes to the control unit and the other follows a wiring harness back, maybe to my wait to start light?

Is there a way to determine which terminal has the ground? I could do some trial by error work, but will this harm my relay if I put power to a terminal that shouldn't have it?

Thank you again for the response, it is much appreciated!!

The two small terminals are each end of the actuator coil. Makes no difference which you make ground, as long as you disconnect all the wires that are on them now.

Just for your info I am sure the red wires are battery voltage from the ignition switch.
What you could also do is leave them on the one terminal.
Remove the white wire and tape it up.
Install a wire from that terminal to your switch.
Then install the other wire from the switch and run it to ground.

Before you do it this way, do check and make sure the red wires are hot with the key on. The wire could have a break in it, which is why the controller is not working now.

Now I'm digging way back in my head here, but isn't the blue wire (with the plastic plugin) the light wire? It's been a few days (months, years) since I rewired a late style controller. I know the white wire is the one with the red tag on it saying "white wire only".

The blue wire does have a little plastic connector clip on it and comes out of the controller that goes to the wait to start light.
The other loose wire coming out of the controller that has a ring terminal on it is the controller ground wire.
One of the red wires on the small relay terminal goes to the controller, the other one goes to the ignition switch run terminal.
The white wire on the relay comes out of the controller.

Right now I can not remember if the blue wire goes positive or negative to turn the wait to start light on.
