Same old no spark ignition problem

Can anyone tell me how to test a dura spark 2 ignition module using a multimeter? It's on a 78 F150 351M 4X4 the same problem(no spark) seems to disapear on it's own then comes back a few months later. I've replaced everything in the system in the last few months module, pick up coil, coil, ignition switch, solenoid. My ford enthusiasm has suffered greatly over this truck. Any help anyone can offer would be great!

KEN, I have the same problem.Ifound out i had a broken ground wire,but ur's can be a simple loose or broken ground wire. good luck. hope this helps. cliff

Thanks Cliff! I've checked the grounds once. But I'm going to go over it all again. It still would be nice to know how to check this module. It's a long walk to a autozone to have them check it. Thanks! Ken,

It would be better to check the system on the truck when it fails, as in make sure you have voltage on the coil and the red wire going to the module. I don't know of any test for the module itself.

Dave it will start and run with a jumper wire from the hot side of the solenoid to the batt. side coil. ignition switch test good and is only a few months old. Do you think maybe it could be that resistor wire causing the problem? It's about the only thing I haven't checked. Thanks! Ken,

Yep, that sounds like a good place to start. I would drop the column down, turn the switch to run, and check to make sure you have voltage coming out of the switch. I forget what color the wire is, it might be pink. If it has voltage, you will then have to physically trace the wire down till you find the resistor. I don't know exactly where it is in the harness, and no one else seems to know either.
