You'd have to disconnect the ignition voltage wire from the module wiring and wire it straight to the coil, and then wire the coil straight to the distributor.

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to accomplish... Are you installing an older engine (with points dist) into your '79? If so, then just remove the dist from the '79 engine and install it into the 'new' motor and all is good (as long as both are the same type engine). If you don't have the '79 engine, just get correct dist from parts store - some will even take the points dist as core for electronic dist...
I'd suggest not changing the '79 over to points, the Ford Duraspark II is a very strong dependable system that is simple to repair. Many people upgrade from points to Duraspark II ignition (I did).
