Just a couple of hundred miles on my "new" Ford rebuilt transmission installed at the dealer and I have problems. When it is cold, it slips in first, then won't shift out of first until I manually go through the shift pattern. Then when I hit drive, it shifts back to 1st. What the hell?
When its warmed up a bit, its fine!

The problem is with the speed govenor in the trans. I had the same problem with a Jasper trans installed in my 92. Once my mechanic swapped out the part everything was fine. Take it back to the dealer and have them fix it.
Exactly the same... when cold and in OD or D, it would not shift out of 1st until about 30 or 35 mph... regarless of how much throttle I gave it... then it would shift right though 2nd and into 3rd. When 'manually' shifting it from 1 to 2.. worked fine... from 2 to D.. it dropped back down to 1st. I also thought WTF... so back to the mechanic and he found the problem... repalced the part and did not have another problem for 50,000 miles.... then I got rid of my 92... and regret it every day since then. I have since bought a 99, but it's not the same.
Of course, they couldn't find anything. They will let it cool over night and try again. They said all the pressure and vacuum tests were fine. I told them about the speed governer and they said they will check into it.
>>Go back to the dealer.
Well, duh! I just thought I would get some input so I knew something to discuss with dealer.
That what you need to do go back and tell them what is wrong with your truck{If you know so much why did you bring it here for us to fix? }Just take it back tell them what it is doing.and tell them you would like it fixed! If they dont fix it just start up the ladder with the people in charge.
