I have a 2002 F-150 XLT 4.6L 2x2, just yesterday my right turn signal blinker started to blink rapidly. I have heard from some ford owners that this could be a sign that the alternator was going out, but don't know if there is any truth to this. Does anyone know why it would just start doing this, or is my bulb just going out???
Either the bulb... or it can do it sometimes if you have a trailer hooked up and don't have a heavy duty relay. But those are pretty standard now days, would be worth checking if you don't have a burned bulb though.
I have a 97 150 4.6. Last year during cold of winter my left blinker started fast blinking also. I changed bulbs, no change in blinker speed, I brought a signal switch for blinker. I never did install though as summer came and problem went away, still have switch in glovebox.
hey philgene I have 2000 F-150 4.6 with the same problem. Although I have had the left blinker problem for 2 years now. It only happens when it's cold outside. The only way I have found to get the darn thing to quit blinking is to turn my hazard lights on and then turn them off. Where is the signal switch located at and how much did it cost.
Thanks
Sorry I named signal switch wrong correct it is called turn signal flasher assembly. It is located under driver's side of the instrument panel on the front of the fuse panel for the 97-98 f250hd,f350 &f super duty and under the center section of the instrument panel in the relay/flasher block on all other models. I do not recall price but recall it was under 20 bucks. Can not say it would solve problem as my signals are working fine again, but I will install if signal acts up again.
I have a 97 f-150 with same problem--after checking fuses and bulbs, I was told relay also.. I did put a new relay in and still no change. Like the other gentlemen said, only happens during cold and or damp weather.
I turn the hazards on a few times then they are o.k..
If you come across any fixes--i will be interested in them.
