Front Turn Signals Not Working

Does anyone know why the front turn signals wouldn't be working when the rear ones work just fine? I took my test light and started chasing wires, the marker lights work just fine when the headlights are one. But the blinkers don't have any juice running to the bulbs. Thoughts? Any ideas how to start troubleshooting this problem?

I just found out about 5 minutes ago that my driver's side turn signals don't work. I hate stupid little stuff like this.

i had the same problem with the front right turn signal. i unplugged the harness right behind the headlight assembly under the hood. i think it was 4 wires in that harness. i then tested right there to see if there was power to there and there wasn't any juice. i then went under the dash and i had power going out of the harness and i said the heck with it and i ran a new wire from the harness under the dash all the way to the front right blinker and everything worked perfect.

I know its a duh I already did that, but don't over look your fuses. Otherwise proper electical troubleshooting is to half step, check the half way point if there is power go further from the source by half again and vice versa. As stated above sockets are a fail point, i recently replaced mine problem solved (this was also because of PO, I had to build an new wiring harness).

Well I did unplug it behind the headlight and had it blinking at that point. Then as I went down the wire it quit (even when I went back to the plug). I think the relay maybe getting hot while I'm trouble shooting and quit working. Anybody have any thoughts or experience with bad turn signal relay???

A bad relay is possible, and they're cheap enough that it sure wouldn't hurt to replace it one way or another. If you have current just ahead of the last connector, but none at the socket, then I would suspect that the wire is broken inside the insulation. I had that happen on one of my Crew's turn signals. The biggest single problem with lights on these Dentsides is bad grounds. I ran into that last week on a turn signal on my '79. It had been working fine, then quit. Cleaned up the ground and put some dielectric grease under it and it's been working fine ever since.

Save yourself some trouble down the road if you splice/replace any wiring and SOLDER the connection and wrap it with heat shrink tubing. A little more time and trouble now will save jumping through all these hoops again later.
