Looking For One Piston Ring
Hi all
Well I did a stupid thing while filing my piston rings. Arrrh! I filed one too much!!! does anyone know where I can get a replacement top ring. I bought 1/16, 1/16, 3/16 plasma moly speed pro rings 3 weeks ago and the set was $100.00. The pistons I bought were Kieth black and the gap should be .026" but the one top ring is .045". I am hoping to avoid buying another set. Any help or severe tongue lashing will be accepted. Boy do I feel stupid!

Will it close up a little bit in any of the other holes. Depending on piston dia. you can get by with some pretty big gaps on k.b. pistons. I have heard of people running up to 60 gap in them in drag engines. I probably wouldn't run 60 myself. I would think you could get rings for one piston from the manufacturer. I doubt you will find a single ring.

Another thing to be careful with. Those top rings are pretty hard. By the time your ready for the second rings you will no doubt think you need to file it the same. NOT!
Those second rings are way softer than the tops. It's very easy to file them too much until you get the feel for them, so be careful. Then again, you DO have spares! :-)
