How to spray on zero rust?
Well, I like to add the rust treatment although I don't know if it actually adds any service life, when using ZR. ZR does a great job, all by itself.
Last summer, I started a frame-off restoration on a 53 F100. I cleaned, sandblasted and painted with ZR. The sandblasting was just a handheld unit that I mainly used to knock off chunks of rust. It was not completely rust-free when I finished. I treated parts with Metal Ready and some were not treated. The frame sat along the side of my house and was exposed to the sun, rain, & ice (not to mention oak leafs, spiders, & any number of factors) since then. I can't tell the difference between the treated and untreated areas. They are all still rust free. Get back to me in 5 years and I'll let you know
PS, I noticed you live in the goose capital of Oregon,do you do any hunting up there?
Thanks Vince
Haven't hunted for about 4 decades so I guess you would have to call me a non-hunter.
They've done a great job in preserving the wetlands around here. During the fall and spring, sometimes you could walk on the geese and not touch the ground. The flocks are unbelievable.
My father & I are hoping to get up that way this season or next season to do a little goose hunting.
Here is something interesting,I went down to the paint supply house to pick up some prep step. They didn't have any in stock so the guy calls the warehouse to check what they had available. The warehouse only had prep step in a gel? I remembered seeing on the web site it was suppose to be a powder so I told them to hold off till I check out what the deal was.
I got home and called zero rust to get the scoop on what the deal was on prep step and the gentlemen said yes that they made a gel. It was made into a gel for the clinging ablity for over head use.
Just thought I would throw that out there for anybody that might need the gel, as it is not on their web site.
