XM commander installed in ashtry??
Looks like you did an excellent job on your install, and I certinaly understand where you're coming from when you said you feared taking your dash apart. But I thought I'd share this idea with you and anyone else that might be interested...
If you remove the trim piece around the radio you will discover that Ford left a ton of room behind the radio and climate controls. This is regardless if you have the flow through console or not. If I didn't have the flow through console but instead the regular dash ( such as BLitzNIck) I would remove the cigeratt lighter and carefully measure and cut out an opening in this peice that would hold the Commander's trim ring (provided in the box). IMO this would yeild another very factory apperance. If you're concerned about losing the cigeratt lighter as a 12V pwr source I think there would be enough room on either side of the Commander to relocate the lighter, actually for just a couple more bucks you could purchase another lighter socket and place one on each side of the commander and just tie them together on the back side for double the 12V pwr outlets.
I'm sure I've confussed the majority of you guys, but maybe some of you will get a visual idea of what I'm talking about. It might be easier with pictures, maybe I'll photoshop some and post them...

I know a guy at Myer Emco in Falls Church, that had his install dept put it in for me. I didn't have the time to mess with it this time, so I paid them 99 bucks to install everything. To me it was worth it, as I tried for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to get the trim piece off the stock head unit, and didn't want to butcher it.
The previous F150's I had down to a science installing head units.
