In the past month my PSD has quit running within 1-2 minutes after I started it up. The first time this happened I tried to start it up but noticed the "wait to start" light did not come on. I waited about a minute and turned the key. The light came on and the motor started. The motor ran fine with no problems. I raised the hood and checked a few things. The only thing I came across was the cap on the fuel filter was not tight. I had checked it and found it would open by turning with just my hand. I did not see any leakage around the bowl. The second time about 2 weeks later the same thing. I only noticed the engine had a slight muffled sound before it happened the second time. I have noticed no other changes. The only service it has recieved lately was the oil and fuel filter change.

Any ideas?

It seems likely to me if the engine is dying it is setting a code in the computer (even if the check engine light is not coming on) for what ever is causing it. The muffled sound you're hearing is the exhaust back pressure device (EBP). If the EBP sensor is not sending the correct signal to the computer, it (the computer) may be calling for more EBP which prevents the exhaust from escaping, causing the engine to die. You need to find out what codes are stored in the computer and go from there.
