Precombustion chambers

How is it that you guys are saying that your IH diesels are sensitive to fuel when they are precombustion chamber engines? I could see having a sensitivity to cetane ratings with a direct injection engine. Ok just hoping someone can straighten me out here

They are, in all probability, talking about the Power Stroke which is NOT a pre-chamber engine.

Glow plugs do not necessarily indicate pre-combustion chambers. Hope that straightens you out. Powerstrokes are not Pre-Comb.

Dude, what does that have to do with anything?

monsta, I have talked to alot of people(not on this site) with the "Old-School" mentality that "If it's got glow plugs, it's a pre-combustion engine". I just assumed that this was another similar stereotype. But then again, we all know what happens when we assume.

Do these powerstrokes have a glow plug in the intake like some of my old case diesels? or do they somehow put a glow plug in the combustion chamber?

The Power Stroke has glow plugs in the combustion chamber. The new ones also have an intake air heater to quell some of the white smoke during cold starts/warm-ups.

Maybe he should of said "Old dude" instead.

If the 61 in your user name denotes your year of birth, then we (you & I) are not far off...However, if it denotes your age...well, I've always been taught to respect my elders.
