Has anyone replaced their green antifreeze with that red CAT antifreeze? I want to replace mine in my truck I just got. I'm gonna put ALL new fresh fluids in. I was told that the CAT stuff fights rust and corrosion. Anyone use it or know someone else that has?
This is only my opinion so use it at you r own disgretion. I would contact the dealer and find out if you can put the gold antifreeze in you PSD that came in the 2002 and newer trucks, find out what you need to do to flush the system completely and use it. Just my opinion.

All antifreeze/coolant products fight corrosion and rust among other things. Ford recommends against the use of ELC/OAT antifreeze in PSD's made before 2002. The CAT ELC antifreeze should work just make sure that you do a complete flush before using it. Remember, with most of the ELC coolants you won't have to add SCA. All my vehicles use low-silicate/low-phosphate Fleetcharge/Pencool 3000, its not recommended by Ford but in 60,000 miles I've had no problems. The conventional green coolant and ELC red coolant can cause problems when mixed, my little brother found this out the hard way when he tried to top off his radiator in his old Cougar with Dexcool after an initial fill with the regular green stuff.
The green and red stuff absolutely can not be mixed or it can gunk up your cooling system. From what I have heard you can use the gold coolant in place of green if you do a complete flush of the system. If you have 10% or more of the green stuff mixed with the gold then you have to add SCA, and in that case it would seem pointless unless you do the flush.
Something else I forgot to mention. The ELC/OAT coolant will also sludge if there is air intrusion into the cooling system. I've seen several Dexcool-equipped Chevrolet's where the intake manifold had to be replaced because of this. Make sure a complete system flush is done and that the cooling system is free of trapped air.
