Question accumulator replace, DIY or not?

I appear to have a leaking accumulator in my 98 Ranger, its oily and nasty looking, and I was real low on refirgerant. If I can evacuate the system myself, is it possible to replace the accumulator without needing special tools or welding anything?

Thanks,

Jim

You just need a disconnect tool for the suction line. The rest is common tools. About 30 minutes work plus Evac and recharge time. Rustout is common on Ranger and Explorers that have the foam wrapped accumulators.

Don't forget to ad the proper amount of A/C oil when replacing the accumulator/drier.

The replacement is a fairly uncomplicated chore.
Be sure you replace the orifice tube/filter and don't get impatient when doing to vaccum, it can take a while.
