I need to find an inline pcv valve that has either pipe thread or preferably "AN" type fittings on it, so that I don't have to use a grommet and push in type on my valve cover.
I am pretty sure that PCV valves are specific to a given application as the fuctions of the valve are to control the flow rate to the intake and prevent the variations in crank-case pressure from upsetting air-fuel mixture. So if you find one that looks like you want, it may create some new issues for you. I have never seen one with anything but slip fittings, in-line or valve cover type. GL
OK, if ya got PCV valve "A" now and you go get PCV valve "B", it may (most likely) change the amount of air bled into the carb, which means you need to tune the carb for whatever PCV valve you want to use. I am guessing that when, say Edelbrock, sends us a carb, they are planning for us to be using the stock PCV valve. So, all I am saying is that if you make a radical change in the amount of scavenged air flow going in it may require you to re-calibrate the carb. Just wanted to make you aware of this.
So, as an option for an inline PCV valves....
like I said I don't know of any that have the fittings you would like... race cars don't use a conventional system. They are scavenged by running a hose to the exaust pipes and this is just plumbing.
However, you may find that the dual-orifice PCV valve used on 1.9L 2V applications around 1986-1988 and maybe later, may be what you want. This will give you an inline valve that has restricted flow at idle and is controlled by spark port vacuum to provide greater flow off-idle; but it is still a slip-fit unit.
I do not know exactly what you want the final set-up to look like but it is my firm belief that the oil filler cap functions also as an oil vapor condensor/seperator PCV systems we see on most of our older V8's. You will need something to provide the same function in any PCV system. GL
I was kind of looking for something made from aluminum that would look nice that I could run my braided stainless lines to. I am going to be doing quite a bit of carb tuning anyways because it is going to be somewhere in the 850-1050cfm range. I have found a push in style billet aluminum cap that has a PCV valve built in and has "AN" fittings so I will probaly end up using that.
