M5R2 Transmission
What did (does) the M5R2 5-speed come in? I have an '89 Ranger with the 2.9 V6, and a bad A4dl automatic. I would like to change to a 5-speed manual, and I found this M5R2 listed on E-bay, supposedly for a Ranger. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ADME:B:BN:MT:1 I'm beggining to have my doubts as to whether this thing will fit my truck or not. I would be grateful for any info.

Both the M5R1 and M5R2 are versions of the M5OD, the Mazda built 5 speed. The M5R1 is for the Ranger/BroncoII/Explorer, and the M5R2 is for the F-Series/Bronco. The bell housings and ratios are different. Hope this can help!

Thanks, the guy who had this tranny on e-bay finally e-mailed me back and told me that he had posted the wrong info, and that it was actually an M5R1, and that it was for a 2.3 4cyl. That's what was confusing me, from the way he had it listed I thought it would fit my 2.9 Ranger, but more study started turning up the fact that the M5R2 Fit the bigger trucks. Like an idiot I had already bid on it before I had all the facts. Luckily, someone outbid me.
