I replaced a starter on a 81 f150 300 I6 4spd OD And I noticed that 2 teeth had about just a 1/3 off each tooth. it was less than half the tooth chipped on each tooth. Will it be alright or will it break those teeth off and start grinding?I'm replacing the start because it no longer spins!

PS it's on a friends truck
Well maybe, maybe not. Could run for years or break tomorrow. No way of telling.
I have heard of some folks "fixing" this problem by removing the gear flipping it over and re-installing it. It's not worth it for me though, if I am going to removing it I will replace it with a new one.
Replacing the gear can be a BIG pain in the butt. It does not want to go on the flywheel "square". In other words it's real hard to get started on the flywheel. Then I read here on another post that the trick is to put the gear in the oven for 1/2 hour and it will go on much easyer.
