Ok so I might be a little wet.
Upon further review I see the shaft within my steering column has a splined end, protruding about 1" from the column on the bottom end. The intermediate shaft between it and the steering box is my interest. At the column end of the intermediate shaft (and this is where I was all wet) is a universal joint I was having trouble finding parts for. The steering box end of this shaft has a "cross" end which connects to the box.
Does that make more sense? I've put pictures in my gallery to show the joint.
maybee i missed it, but what year is your truck? i have both the older style(77) and the newer style(78). i can look at mine if you want, btw i think this has gotten off topic, what excactly is the problem again? there are alot of easy fixes for these trucks.
Psycho, the truck is a 79 with a 78 cab as best I can tell. I was trying to find parts to redo the universal on the steering shaft, where it attaches to the column. I have some pix in my gallery to illustrate the universal I'm looking for. I could buy a new borgeson or similar but I'd like to repair what I've got. If you could help with info that'd be great.
My stock 74 F100 4x4 with power asst. sterring had a steering shaft just like that. I converted it to a intrigal power steering box out of a 76 and it look the same except insted of the slip joint (like in the pic) it had a rag joint on the steering box end.
