I bought a beautiful 93 F-250 a month ago, and I love it. But, summer is here and it is time to get out and do some customizing. I have a few things in mind, and I want as much input as possible. First of all I want to put a Vortech Supercharger on that huge 460. May not end up happening right away considering this will be my commuter vehicle for a while. It has a lot of little customizations here and there, but nothing that contributes to engine performance. I got an idea from an old GMC my friend used to drive (until a drunk driver creamed it while it sat on the side of the road). The truck had big rig style smoke stack exhaust pipes, and that was the coolest thing I think I have ever seen. I want to do that on my truck, but have no idea if I can, due to a few factors: single catalytic converter, possible upgrade to headers, and who the hell would do that sort of work. Last but not least you don't put a blower in an F-250 without changing over to a posi-lock rear end. I am relatively new to the customizing/tuning world, but Stacey David from "Trucks!" has inspired me to finally get off my *** and get my hands a little dirtier than just servicing my truck. Any advice would be welcome, you can e-mail me too. THANKS!
Hey Benrow77 welcome to FTE you sound like you have a nice truck there. What color is it how many miles I presume its4x4. That 460 is a great motor that put out a lot of ponies. With a supercharger on it Wow youll have an awesme machine. A guy around here did the same thing with his truck that you would like to do to yours. He put a hood scoop on and dual stacks on back of the cab. No supercharger though. Also has flames on the fenders. That truck looks and sounds mean. That exhaust cackles from the big block 460. Sweet. I dont know him personally but if I see him Ill ask him what he did. Will get back to you.
Thanks, I love the truck, it is the third in a legacy of Fords. I began with an 88 Ranger, but I am 6'4" so that was short lived (no pun intended). Then I got my hands on an 89 F-150 XLT Lariat with the 302 and I loved it, but wanted the extended cab and the 4x4 (you guessed right). So, I found a 93 F-250 XLT with the 460 dual tanks, chrome mags, custom exhaust, K&N filter, bitchin' stereo, tow package, and only 141,000 miles for only $5400! I know, I practically stole it! Ha Ha Ha It is white with a matching Gem Top canopy, but not much else too special. I am thinking also of putting in an air horn instead of the whiny little horn it has now, an alarm with remote ignition, and a few other fun things I know I am forgetting. I think my biggest obstacle will be channeling funds towards all of these projects without alarming the girlfriend. If anyone know a great couple of websites where they have found EVERYTHING they have ever looked for to put in their truck, please drop them on me. Thanks again guys
Hey a mans pride is his truck dont kid yourself they like to personalize it so it says me. Dont forget the girlfriend though.Shell understand about your truck. Sounds like your truck is pretty nice already. Sounds like you got some mods already on your truck. Great. Hey dont forget to post some pics of your truck sometime so we can see what she looks like. You got half the battle won. You got a great truck and some great mods. Make it so it says you all over it. Make it unique. Good Luck.
I would love to post the pics I have taken, but not too sure how yet. I will figure it out though. Thanks again for the support. EDIT: Ok, I posted a photo album of my truck, check it out.
