I have a "regular" F-250 SuperDuty 4x4 with the 5.4 motor. I have heard that the FX package springs have a little more lift to them. Does anyone know how much more lift they give? Also, if anyone has part numbers for the front and rear FX springs, I would appreciate it. I have the 4.5" plush ride kit from Edge and would like just a tad more lift, if possible. Any help??
Ok, so if they don't have different springs, what makes them look like they sit a little higher than a "regular" SuperDuty? Do they maybe have these "X" code springs I have heard about? Does anyone know how much these springs cost and where to get them from? How much more lift do they give you over other Ford springs. Where do you look to see what code springs you have?
The X springs raise the front of the truck and are designed for plow trucks. There are no options that raise the rear of the truck. Is it possible that the trucks you have seen have a lift installed? I know some dealers install lifts in new trucks before they are sold.
You can get the X-codes from a Ford Dealer.....not sure on cost. Depending on what code springs you have now you should get 1-1.5" or more out of the X-code springs.
To see what springs you have now look at the sticker on your driver's side door jamb and look under where it says "SPR", there should be two letters and the first letter is what code front springs you have. Or if you look towards the upper left of the sticker for "Front GAWR" the X-codes are 6000#, v-codes are 5200#, u-codes are 4800#, etc..
I looked on my sticker and I have the TA code springs. Would the "X" code springs give me enough of a lift to bother with? Like I said, I already have the 4.5 inch plush ride system but would like just a little more if possible. Think it is worth it?
I figured it would make it a little stiffer, 04superduty. But, with a good set of shocks (I have Blisteins all around now) and possibly a dual front shock setup, it shouldn't be too bad, should it? Since I do have the "lighter" 5.4 engine, how much more lift do you think it will produce?
I have had my 250 fx4 next to a 99 4x4 and a 2003 regular 250 and it was definitely higher than the regular 250 and looked like it had a 2 or 3 inches on the 4x4. Maybe it rode higher cause of the lighter engine (5.4L), I mean there was a noticable difference on flat pavement. I dont know what engine the other 250s had. I didnt notice a V10 emblem.

My boss has a f 250, regular cab, long box, plow prep with the 5.4 and it rides like crap. Bounces back and forth. I am not sure about the amount of lift the x springs would actually give you.
Like it has been said hundreds of times on here, the FX4 icludes:
Transfer Case and Fuel Tank Skid Plates (light weight)
Branded Rancho Front and Rear Shocks (not to good ones at that)
Steering Damper
"FX4" decal
That is it, If a truck with the FX4 package has a 5.4 and X springs, it will sit higher in the front, than any other super duty with less spring or more motor.
All else is a figment of ones own imagination.....
