Well today i found out the front cross member the engine sits on is cracking really bad down near the ttb pivot bracket. This sucks! It looks really bad and cracked so much that the outter bolt on the left side isnt even really attached anymore. I noticed first when my steering was feeling really weird, and my tires were arching inward at the tops. Ive heard of people welding it back up, but it seems like mine was welded up once already. Highly doubt its safe to drive, but its my daily driver and i really need to fix it quick. Could i get a new crossmember somewhere for cheap? Or could you guys recomend something to me that i could do. It really sucks cause my dads truck is also down getting the engine rebuilt after it went south on us, and i was giving the old man a ride to work every morning. Were both pretty much screwed now. I wish i could get a picture to show yall how bad it is. Not sure if i should even mess with it and getting it welded up again, especially since its covered in oil and power steering fluid.
Usually people don't know enough to drill holes at each end of the crack when they weld it to actually stop the crack. I'd weld it up and try to replace the member w/ one off a junky but it's not easy.
Find out if a 2WD one will work. Your welcome to the one I have off a 91 if you come out and get it. I am in NW Indiana, about 5.5 hours from the east side of Cleveland.
Thanks for the replys. Ill have to look into it zieg if i cant find one. Thanks for the offer man. Im seriously starting to get so frustrated now...i do not have one bit of luck with this truck. As soon as i start to get it running good again, something like this always comes along and screws it up.
No problem, I just had good luck parting the truck out. The frame is in my backyard with the bed on it. Pretty much everything else was either junk, sold or used. Next step is the scrap yard so you are welcome to it if you want it.
