I'm looking for some help or input on my suspension.
I just recently did something that could be considered ignorant--picked up a set of 6" superduty leafs that were for a '99. Cut the holes off and compressed them under my stock top leaf to match the hangers. Got everything installed but it sucks the wheels in --not sure of the angle but lets just say 45•
Not bad enough to mess up my front axle or the steering setup but not gonna work out on the road really. So i've gotta drop the arms down one way or another.
Don't wanna touch the crossmember...rivets and such just too much to do.
Looks like i can take off the mounts (two of them) that go from the cross member to the arms. Something like two bolts up top vertical, and three on the middle of the crossmember horizontal.
I can take those off and try to weld more steel to lengthen it
OR if anybody knows of an aftermarket extended piece for bolt on.
I gotta try to straighten out that front axle and re-align everything.
well that's what i was planning on doing was making some center hinge drop brackets...lots of cutting and welding though.
Didn't really find much for a '93 on parts searches but i'll try again.
Yeah, the camber is WAY off.
Times like these i wish i had a D60.
Can't find em here on Maui.
Super 60 is out of my budget range for a while...
Did you make a center hinge drop bracket? I can only imagine how far off your camber is with 6" spring on a not dropped TTB
Edit, you can buy some weld on 4-6" drop brackets, or 4-6" bolt on drop bracket. Seach for the big lift brands on google, they should all sell em
Hate to be a downer but I tried everything to make mine work with the rancho lift kit for the dana 50, never could get the camber right. I finally spent the money and bought a dana 60 best thing I ever did for my truck! (maybe the turbo was the best but the 60 is a close second)
I would love to get my hands on a Dana 60.
I'm not kidding when i say you can't even get them at the salvage yards here.
I've been looking for over a year.
guess i'll just wait to drill the bottom hole until i match it up with the pivot on the spot to get the camber on point best i can.
I honestly have no clue how i'm gonna get a Dana 60. I've got a long time friend that owns a dealership in Michigan but not even sure what kinda deal i cold get on the super 60. If i end up buying one from ford...might as well go big.
Time will tell.
Looks pretty straight forward though for making these myself. Just gonna need to take the to the baseyard to have the bends put in...probably better than cutting pieces and welding together.
And here i thought it was gonna be easy
I've ran skyjacker and super lift, very pleased with both...never tried rancho. Then after 60 swap I had custom leafs put together
The shyjacker center mount looks like a much better design than the rancho. The rancho has two center mounts instead of the one piece unit but after getting my center mount problem solved I had to add a leaf to my spring pack 6 months later my springs were sagging again. That is when I got the 60 in there gave me about 1.5" of lift now the pickup sits perfectly level and I can do my own alignment
