UPS Insured Shipping Q
Very poor company! I use FedX! they take care of the customer!
--shipper should file the claim
--if you didn't declare a value, which is not the same as insurance due to some legal mumbo jumbo, they are limited to $100 liability, says so on your shipping doc.
--get all the claim numbers/tracking numbers etc when you speak to them and the name of the person.
--usually you are talking to cust. svc, claims people don't like to talk to you.
--should be able to at least get started on either web site.
--You can expect delightful and terrible experiences from both carriers.
--when you ship, you are responsible for packageing. If you put fragile on it, don't expect the conveyor belt or diverter arm or sort slide to read it.
--If you put "this side up" on it, and it has to stay "this side up", take a good luck at it, as you will never see it again.
--If you ship dangerous stuff and don't tell them, you could share a cell with a celebrity.
--you can put $25,000 declared value on a piece of welding slag, but all they will pay is what it's worth. Keep reciepts or make sure you can prove what it's worth if you ship higher value.
--if you plan to send something that the whole future of you company depends on, either double ship it or go buy a plane ticket and carry it there yourself. (I love calls about "We sent a $5million bid that has to be there by noon" and they didn't bother to see the biggest snow storm of the year has closed the midwest, resulting in nationwide delays. "There ain't no snow in Jersey, so why is it late???" )
--I could go on, but I won't
They will pick up the item at the buyers house.
The seller has to come up w/ a receipt for a new one.
It can even be the ebay page that you used.
I sold a 72 Monte Carlo grille and it got damaged
I had to fill out all the paper work, i got the check, then i sent the seller the money
You can use a catalog, a ebay page, or anything for a receipt
