Engine dies when warm????

I have a 86 f-150 with a 302 FI V8. Here is a summary: My truck kept stalling/loosing all power whenever it warmed up to normal Temp. and whenever I went over 3,000 RPM. I had fuel pump replaced in engine, didn't work, then I replaced the one in the tank. It now runs better under a load (over 3,000 rpm) but it will not run at idle at normal temperature now??

I checked the battery and alternator and both are fine. Once the motor cools back down, it will crank again and run fine until the engine warms up to normal temperature? Does anyone have any ideas what this might be?

Thank You!!!

I don't know if the truck has a temp sensor but my dodge car does.
It sends a signal to the computer and if it is bad could cause the truck to run rough. I don't know if it will keep it from starting or not.
It is different than the temp sending unit that tells you the engine temp.
I guess the choke could be stuck closed.

Thanks for the help. I'm not sure whether or not it has a temp. sensor but I will try and find out.

Ignition module. We see this problem often and most times people think that it is fuel related. But a new module will do the trick.

Thanks shorebird! How much would that normally cost and is it difficult to install? I am assuming you could just get one at a local auto parts store like autozone or advance etc.

Thanks again...

If it's not the TFI module, it could be the magnetic pick-up inside the distributor. I have had those go bad on more than one occasion.

I would say that it's the TFI module mounted on the distributor. It's a simple proceedure to replace. Up plug the wire connector to the module and remove the screws holding the module to the distributor and pull it stright out from the distributor side plug.
