wire problems

wire problems
Hard to get to some of the wires on my 91 302.
the problem is, i went to pull of 5 today since for some reason i figured it would be good place to start, the thing will NOT come off.
I threw a pair of plires on there, in a good spot. couldn't twist or pop it, cause its the one thats right in the engine lift out bracket, plsus there is the heat shielding for it too down there. which makes it hard to grab the wire and pull.
any suggestions on easy removeal of these things?
new wires, motorcraft, are 55 dollars, and i want to save a little for insurance and stuff right now. But i'm guessing new wires will be needed cause it feels like these are melted onto the plugs.
