Ok... I have MSN messenger.. Everytime I log onto AOL, and sometimes Outlook Express I get logged off of MSN and i logs me into Windows Messenger
I've went to my control panel, administrative options, services,
and disabled it..
I even have disabled the profile that was assoctiated w/ it in the options.
Still does it
I've set it up to manually log in, disable it, etc and I still haven't figured it out
Am I missing something?
So if I read this correct, you never use windows messenger, correct? If so, just delete it off of your computer. Go to C:\Program Files and there should be a folder marked 'Messenger'. Delete it. Whenever I do a reformat, the first thing I do is delete that folder. It has flaws that Microsoft has had to correct, which can allows unauthorized access to your computer.
Press CTRL-ALT-Delete then goto Task Mannager and Processes. Then find the windows messanger exe thats running (i dont remember what the exe file is) and then hit end process, then you'll be able to delete it.

I have another problem
somehow someone got on my AOL and sent out some **** link
I got my AOL turned back on
But my cable (not from AOL)
turned off and wouldnt let me back on for about an hour
It was during this time that AOL sent out the emails
Dont know if it was Conway Corp workin on their stuff
or it went off because of the other problems...
Spy and Ad-aware is big business now. From what I have read, the tech lines from some of the big computer firms are discouraged from helping you delete that stuff...because some of the firms that create it sponsor them. The first link (javacool) is a great utility. Once that is kept up to date, it virtually eliminates all of that stuff from ever getting put on your computer. Its basically an internet filter. I know my varying 'wares have been drastically cut (85-90%) since using it.
Yes, you just have to update it regularly. Once it has been updated, there is a button marked 'enable all protection' under the quick tasks section on its main page.
