Thank you for the warm welcome, I'm in a rut on this ol' truck, it's a 72 F-250
2X4, 390, auto on the column, the brass or bronze part that links the shifter to the "shaft" in the column has broken, I'm not even sure what this part is called.
I have the original part # off it : D3TA-7228-AWB
I'm about to the point of machining my own part, but I'd rather save the time and frustration (sharpening lathe bits, finding them, ect...) and go buy one.
if anyone knows what this part is, or where to get it please let me know.
John, would that be the part that connects the tube in the column to the handle you grab when going from park to drive etc? If we are thinking of the same thing I call it the shift collar. Had the one on my 70' replaced years ago and am currently doing the one on my 82. Local Ford dealer has one for the 82 @ $75.00, I guess it's still new enough. I wouldn't know if they would carry one ten years older. I've read that someguys have been still been able to get turn signal switches for these 67 - 72 group from Ford.
I changed mine over to stick, so I pulled the shifter off the column. I have the lever and pin(I should, if I did not throw it away). I saw it last week out in the garage.
Be glad to give you any part you need, since I have no use for it. It worked nice when it was in truck...but I just HATE automatics
if you need the shift collar like shaggy says you can still get it at the dealer they have to use the book but also dennis carpenter has it and its probably cheaper
