I only have a few posts up here on the forum but I can tell you that I have enjoyed several threads so far. What a great forum and it seems like there are some class acts here. I go by Beedub on the forum, I'm Bill. Live in Kansas now on a three year assignment from my employer. I have always had a love for Ford trucks. I have had a 94 Ranger 4x4, a 05 150xlt 4x4, an 08 350 4x4 w/ 6.4l, a 2010 350 4x4 w/ 6.4l and now my 77 F250 Highboy with a 460 4V, C6, Etc. My wife and I both love classics and we love trucks so it made sense to get our newest truck. We love our Highboy Ranger. It has 69000 original miles on the truck and the Original owner told me the engine swap was done new at the dealership in MI when he bought it. I don't have the proof of that but I took him at his word. I have some plans for our rig but the overall theme I want is to look OEM and just enjoy driving it. I will most likely do the power steering conversion and give it a thorough underside cleaning and protection. They salt the roads out here in Kansas and I don't want my Highboy to pay the price. My wife and I are also avid motorcyclists and we try to get out every weekend when the weather is nice. I have a 2011 Street Glide and my Bride is between bikes. She had a 2011 Softtail Deluxe but want to get the new Road King. When you are passing through Gardner, Kansas look for the driveway with the black 250 in the driveway. If the garage door is open, then the beer is cold and stop on by.
Welcome Beedub! Sounds like you have a nice collection of trucks. I have a Kawasaki ZRX 1200R (green of course!). I can only handle about a 300 mile loop before my rear says enough.
And if you every make it down to Houston, swing on by for some cold ones at my place!

We are down to just having the Highboy now. The others have all gone onto new homes. The Bride and I did just under 400 on Saturday. We went down to Wichita and back up to the KC area. Our longest day was a couple years back we did 777 in one day! It took the whole next day to recover and get the feeling back in the saddle! ZRX 12 is a nice ride. Keep the rubber side down!
I have a 460 4v with 69000 miles. I am bouncing around the idea of a rebuild. What are the best options for semi-performance parts, i.e: Heads and Cam. I know that a better intake and modern 4bbl with headers will help but what are some of the performance mods that you know of? Second Question:
Of course I have the HD Dana gear in the pumpkins but what about going with a set of newer axles and more highway friendly gears? Would newer super duty axles fit a Highboy? Would the benefit of 3.73, etc gears be worth the investment? I would like the rear discs as well. Third question:
What do you all mean by FE motor? Fourth and last question:
Does anyone make a kit for the steering mod or do we need to source the parts for ourselves to switch to the newer steering mod?
Nope! I'm not going to spoil someone else's answer to your question by trying to say what exactly the 460 is, but the FE's were: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_FE_engine
