Best muffler tone?

Any opinions on the best sounding muffler for a reasonable cost? Opinions on Flowmaster?

I am looking for a nice deep rumble. A locomotive growl in an F-350 package. The air horns come later!

The truck is a 2001 F-350, crew, dually.

Ditto!!!

If you absolutely must go with a muffler - make sure you get one with the straight-thru type design. Don't know if Flowmaste has that kind, but don't think you'd get the best flow out of one of the chamber type mufflers. With a turbo you want to go with a straight-through!!

No choice. They are required by law in VA.

I checked Flowmaster's website and didn't see anything that looked that great for diesels. Unless I missed something, the only straight through design mufflers they have for diesels have a maximum of 2.5" inlet/outlet. You at least want to match your stock 3.5" system in a straight through inlet/outlet design.

Have you checked MotorHaven?

I have heard some pretty good things about Magnaflow mufflers.

AFP,
Are you only looking to do a muffler? Or complete turbo back exhaust? If you don't straightpipe that baby I'd look for a straigh thru design.... perhaps one that you can flip to get different sounds levels.

Frost I have not looked there. Diesel I am looking for a muffler for now. I might do the turbo back later. For now I want a good heavy (tuned) sound. That may come with a total exhaust job. Hopefully I can use the muffler again later.

Thanks for the info.

2001 F350 crew DRW 4X4. Or is it 6X6?
