Gauges
well you know.
With that said, everyone who has seen my gauge placement thinks it came that way. I take that as a compliment.
It is fairly straight forward.
The "A" pillar is the way most guy's go. I would rather look at my gauges, than have my gauges look at me. Those flat spots are perfect. The one on the left has more stuff behind it than the one on the right.I found the center of both flat areas and marked them. I then put a caliper to the diameter of the gauges and divided that number by half. Then I took that number and transfered it to a set of dividers (a compass)and scribed the size of the gauges onto the flat areas, Pyro on the left, boost on the right. Here's the hard part.I got out my drill and drilled a half inch hole in two places of my brand new perfectly good dash of my very expensive truck that I will be paying for a long time. Now the trick. I used my dremel tool. I put a sanding barrel on that tool and very carfully ground away the material rifgt up to my scribe lines. I left enough material to make an interferance fit so the gauges just press in and push out, no back clamping involved. I daisey chained the back lighting and tied into the dimmer wire that is located behind the light switch. Daisey chaine the ground to the ground termination that happens to be right there on the left. Picked up switched power from the fuse box, also right there. pulled my wire through the factory grommets in the firewall, drilled and tapped the exhaust manifold in place. Hooked it all together after tapping into my boost line, and it was done. I went REAL slow and carefull, no mistakes allowed, and it took me four hours. And now it is done and it works and looks great.
So far I have put a 3" Jack-It leveling kit on the front and an Add-A-Leaf on the rear,Bilsteins all around, a "Rauncho" steering stabilzer,
A Volant Cool Air Induction System, RACOR CCV Intercooler mod, Quiet ignition key,VDO pyro and boost,Silvania Silver Star bulb replacment in driving lights and headlights,SCMT,285/70R16 Dueler AT's, Snug top "EXPO", Bed rug,Ford factory molded mudflaps, Next I am going to put a Bully Dog S/S 4" down pipe and tie it into a S/S 4" Magna Flow exhaust system that terminates with the polished S/S 5" exhaust tip. My truck runs good, could not be happier.
