AFE stage 1 vs stage 2

I am fairly new to diesels and new to this site. I own a 00 F350 PSD 4x4. I am interested in doing some minor mods to my truck. I tow a 15K pound fifth wheel toy hauler. I have done the exhaust (turbo back), chip, A-pillar gauges, (EGT, tranny, boost). Now I am interested in an intake. I would like to know if the AFE stage 2 is worth the additional cost of the stage 1. Has anyone switched from the stage 2 to the stage 1? Was it worth the additional cost? Where can i get a screamin' deal on this thing. I will also be installing the ATS housing and wicked wheel. thanks everyone. This site is great!!

I think that you would probably get a little more air with the Stage 2, but it's no longer sealed off from the under hood hot air like the Stage 1 is. I have the AFE Stage 1 and it works fine for me with my mods. (check out my signature or gallery) The Stage 1 is more or less sealed from under hood heat and is pulling cold air from the front of the truck - I don't think I'd spend the money to switch. I don't know how much difference the more air you'd get will make if its hot!??

The home made variant will look something like this (click here). The actual TYMAR uses 4" exhaust tubing instead of the factory intake tube. The only thing the website is good for is getting the phone number.

Using this site's search function type "tymar" and you will get enough reading material to last for days.

I just switched from an aFe stage 1 to stage 2. The difference is amazing. The stage 1 was a lot better than stock but the stage 2 blows the stage 1 away. I don't know what the power increase is but the throttle response is better and the you can really hear the engine breathe. I've got the SCMT, 4" magnaflow, aFe stage 2, and ats housing. My EGT's have dropped about 100 degrees and fuel mileage is about 22 MPG.
