97expy engine light flashing
1997 expy 99000 miles engine light started to flash and truck began to shake while driven as to skip and hesitate. took the truck to the dealer. and told me one coil was bad and pcv valve to and replace that one spark plug going to cost me $480.00 to fix the problem. is these true . any info thank you.

just had the same problem a few weeks ago. coming back from a trip, blinking check engine light and engine shaking especially when you had to give it a little gas. went to autozone and had it scanned. code p0104 came up, indicating #4 coil. only advance auto parts had the coil in stock, $50. it was packaged under gp sorenson brand, but was actually a motorcraft unit inside. took the old coil out, it had antifreeze on it from the hose connection above. replaced coil, tightened hose connection above, about 1 hr of work and all has been fine since. if i can do it in one hour, i cant see why a mechanic would charge more than 1 hours worth. to me $150 tops for parts and labor would be fair for changine out coil and pcv valve.
