Okay here it is my truck vs a Ford Gt in a 1/4 mi?
No seriously..
My dad has a 03 F-250 crew cab with a 7.3L and a auto,4x4, and ls, and he thinks he can mop the floor with my truck in the 1/4mi. I've been real quite about saying anything, kinda letting him think hes got the faster unloaded truck, which could be true, but I dont think so.
My truck is a 02 F-150 Super crew with a 5.4L auto, 4x4, and LS, I also have a diablo chip, mac intake, and dual exhaust.
His truck has about 13K, while mine is pushing 85K.
I'm pretty sure he may get the jump on me, but I think I can over come him, but I'm curious as to your thoughts. Would it even be a close race, or will I get blown outta the water?
There's a very real chance of this race happening in a couple of weeks.
his truck is a bit heavier than yours but also consider hes packing more hp and torque than your truck. seeing as his truck is also probably better geared. i know you said you both had ls but that doesn't mean you have the same gear ratio its likely he is better geared, his truck is designed to tow heavier loads than yours after all.
edit: my bad that was the specs for the 6.0 powerstroke, the 7.3 is 250 hp and 505ft. it will be an interesting race, you might or might not win in this case. his torque will allow him to beat you off the line but will it win him the race i can not say, he has massive amounts of torque, it might be enough to let him win. can't really say. i would call it a close race reguardless even considering what you have done. let us know how it goes. if it was the new 6.0 i would be betting on him hands down but this is not the case.

He'll get the jump on you, but you will win. You have a much higher top speed, and overhead cams. He has a pushrod V8, he'll run out of cam around 3500 RPMs. You'll have power all the way to 6000. Most likely he'll also break traction, and just sit there roasting the tires.
I forgot to mention that the F-250 has 3.73 gears, and my F-150 has 3.55 gears.
I thought I saw it mentioned in the Ford v comp Forum that the F-250 with the 7.3L had 1/4 mile time in the mid 18's while the 02' F-150's had a 1/4 mi time of some where in the mid 16's. does any one know wether ther is any truth to this?
If there is any truth to it, I prolly dont have much to worry about.
When we race, would it be better for me to put my truck into 4wd, powerbrake to roughly half throttle, cut it loose, and then quickly shift out of 4wd (I have ESOF)? Or would I be better off just to punch it with out any 4wd or powerbraking?
My F-150 can bust both rears loose with out powerbrakeing...but not so bad that it will just sit and spin.
You might win. I have an 02 7.3 with quite a few mods and I could smoke your truck. Not tryin to talk smack, but I've raced a 5.4 before and I beat him by about a trucklength in the 1/4. The guy I was running against was bone stock though, so you'd probably give me a good run. Is your pops truck stock? If it's stock, you will take him in the high end, but if he has a chip, free-flowing exhaust and intake, you're gonna get a run for your money. I'd be real interested to see how this pans out. Good luck!
Terry
On edit: Oh, and yes, take off in 4 HI, but dump it to 2 as soon as you get hooked up so you don't lose as much power driving all 4 wheels. I have to do the same with mine or I'll sit and spin tires. I don't know if you've done that much before, but I had to practice a few times to get it down to knock it out of 4 and hit 2nd gear.

His truck is bone stock, only mod it has is a K+N filter. The only thing that I see that's in my favor is the massive amount of weght assciated with his truck, when compared to mine, and even mine is fairly heavy.
If you both whre to drive the EXACT same, I would give it to his truck. Soory man, but 5.4s dont hold much weight in my book, considerin my stock six will out run any stock 150.......ever. Except the lightning and harley trucks of course.
The 5.4 will be able to stay in a lower gear longer, giving you the advantage. I think you'll be able to take him. When you're in 2nd he will be in 3rd or 4th. More torque multiplication to the rear wheels, and away you go.
He will get the jump on you off the line (if it hooks up), but you'll pass him quick enough.
My 02 F-150 5.4L is supposed to have 260 Hp @ 4500, and 350 ft/lbs @ 2500 stock. The chip is claimed to add 25 Hp and 40 ft/lbs, and the intake is claimed to add 20 hp and ~17 ft/lbs, if this holds true then I would be in the neighbor hood of 305 hp and 407 ft/lbs. (i pulled the nubers off of MotorHaven)
My dads 03 F-250 7.3L is supposed to have 250 Hp @ 2600, and 505 ft/lbs @ 1600 stock, with an auto tranny.
My truck has a base curb weight of 6500 lbs while the F250 has a base curb weight of 8800 lbs, a difference of 2300 lbs in my favor.
well first of all a supercrew 4x4 is not going to run anywhere close to a mid-16 in the 1/4, my 02 supercab 2wd 5.4 ran 16.4 stock, i've got a chip, intake, exhaust, and ele. fans on it now and i'm down to 15.6-15.7 my truck has 3.55's with the LS, my uncle has an 01-02 f-250 supercab longbed 4x4 with the 7.3 and 3.73 LS, he put a superchips on his truck and it *feels* almost as fast as my truck. so i i think it'll be a pretty close race.
