I have a 97 F-150 long bed. Recently I've been having an issue with my left front brake binding. What I mean is that it seems that the brake doesn't release fully and sometimes it gets so hot that it smokes and I actually can feel it holding me back while accelerating. It seems to be heat related as it only binds after 10 miles or so. I've had it in to the local dealership twice in the last month and they keep telling me that they've cleaned the calipers and can't see an issue. I told them to go and drive it 10-15 miles or so and then check it out. They said they did but they didn't see any problem. It's been 1 week since my last dealer visit and the problem is back again today. Anyone have any ideas? Is there something with these calipers that others have experienced?
I would change it also. I had a similiar problem on my GMC. I didn't even think about cleaning it. I just went out and bought another one. Actully I bought two. One for the other side. I figured if one was bad the other might be right behind it. A friend also told me that if I replace one that I should do both. Don't know if that's true or not.
