From what I've gathered reading through the forums, Ford addressed this problem with the 2001 V10's and newer. Not saying that they fixed it. It was brought to my attention because I did a post on Tuning up my V10 and was told to watch out when I changed my plugs.
Well I've just ordered a 2004 V10 F550 and it will be in in four weeks. If they fixed it with 01's, or 02's or 03's I'd sure like to know exactly what they did. I'll have the last of this engine in the current cylinder head configuration and if they haven't fixed the number of thread holes yet...then they ain't gonna.
I see spark plugs were changed...but no concrete reading on the cylinder head. If the head don't have more threads...the plug isn't gonna help anything at all. Just more threads hanging in the air for the ride out I suppose. These heads should have had 3/4" of clear thread in the aluminum. No less. So simple...yet so difficult I suppose. Anyone got photos of the plug holes in the head. Any before/after photos of the improvements (if any) ??
I guess somehow I could see if my dealer (me and the owner are good pals) can find anything out. But he sells them and isn't an engineer. And maybe Ford wont even divuldge that kind of engineering data to anyone.
I need a blue print of the 99 head and the 04 head.
