hi, first time posting anywere,been reading these for ayear or so
learned alot from everyone. have big problem if anyone has any ideas short of paying for garage id love to hear it.
the problem ,85 f150 302fi aod
jump started someone about 25 miles from where it died
lost kick down first , then felt like it was stuck in2nd stopped for gas it started
put in gear it died , now in P orN try starting trans &shaft jump wheels kick

thanks,it was running great,then noticed 3rd to 2nd kikdown didn't work it still ran through all gears 123od a few miles later stopped when i pulled out it felt like it was stuck in 2nd. stopped for gas, it started&idled fine,put it in gear heard a clunk then itdied ,now it will turn over 1or 2 times then the trans &drive shaft start jumping ,driveshaft is off now trans still jumps ,mounts allgood fluid looks more like oil wont start at all, hope thats better 1finger typer thanks again
yeah,know that. what i meant was any idea on cause ,my neighbor thinks possibly
torque converter locked or bolts loose or flex plate broken,
three weeks since this happend havent had time or place to pull trans . not a kid anymore,35 wife & kids 60+hrs at work. I have been running fords a long time just trying to get an idea what it could be before I take time to pull it.
btw from reading this forum, I rebuilt an 85 f150 with a 300 /6. And it topped 140mph. Thank you guys.
We could all take guesses at what went wrong with your transmission and most likely all be wrong!
This is like calling a doctor, telling him you don't feel good and asking him "what's wrong with me", he isn't going to know until he examines the patient.
Unfortunately, (for you) no one here has had the exact same problem with their truck.
At this point it's going to be you who educates us as to what occured with your transmission.

mine aways hanged between gears when coming to a stop or slowing down and it would always die going up hill slowly first it would start shaking then a very loud grinding noise then it would die or roughly downshift into 3rd
