What size wheels?

I'm shopping for a specialized set of wheels for a customized Econoline E250. I would greatly appreciate inputs on the pros and cons of wheel width, particularly., 16x8 versus 16x10. I would like to go with the 16x10 but am concerned about degrading the ride, tire wear, tire heat at high speed, clearance problems, etc. Any insights, comments, or experiences, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Tire size

Sorry, forgot the tire size. I would like to use Michelin LT245/75R16s. I realize the 16x10 would really spread this tire out, but is it feasible and what are the consequences.

why do you want such a wide rim for a normal sized tire? what application are you using this truck for? racing? mudding? cruising?

Cruising, long haul trips. I'm trying to achieve a relatively soft and stable ride. For many years, I have run a LT M/S LT245/75R16 on a 16x8 rim at around 55 psi and get a very smooth ride for a 3/4 ton truck. The max psi rating on this tire is 80 psi. I have put over 100k miles on an old E350 using these tires in this manner and it really rides great and the tires last 40k plus miles. On my new van I was considering taking it a step further with 16x10 rims and a comparable tire to match. I have found similar 265/70 tires with recommended rim sizes to 9". What happens if I stretch that to 10"?

10" is too wide for that 245 size tire. 7"-8" is about right for 245's and 265's. I run 10" wide wheels on 12.50" wide tires and they fit very nicely. I also run 8" wide wheels on 10.50" wide tires and they fit nicely too. You're contemplating running a wheel that is wider than the tire. Not good.
