05 Superduty,All new or makeover?

I will pose a few of the questions for feedback I had for Jeff(1956 MK2) ,for you other savy Ford folk. and appreciate any thoughts.
My quandary? Should I buy a 04 f 350 SD, or wait till the 05? Or even 07(on the road 06)

I am sure you have all seen the "spy" photos of the presumably 05 SD. Well, it does not look all that different from existing SD IMHO. Certainly not like the Tonka Truck which my brother (a ford salesperson) says another salesperson saw in Vegas recently. Does anybody know for a certainty that the 05 SD will truly be the model revamp everybody has been looking for? Or is it as I have seen elsewhere, just a slight modified look until the real makeover comes out in the 07 year on the roads in 06? Which I saw elsewhere on the net.

If the "real" model change is another 2 years out or so, might as well hook up with an 04 now, and then get the new one in a few years. Versus waiting months for an 05 for little changes but more bucks. Help! ; )
Plus, I guess if I buy an 04, with the idea of buying the new model in 06 if that is the story, I should probably not buy the diesel now if I am going to sell in a couple years huh?

Why not just wait? Well my 97 F250 cc sb diesel still runs great and has low mileage(74000). But the new Lance Camper makes it squat just a bit even with air lifts, and I would feel more comfortable in the 350 of course. One other quandary, my Bro works as a Ford salesperson, but has used his 2 A plan pin numbers for the year, so do I wait, or just suck it up and try to get the best deal out there.?
peace

I'd wait until you have better confirmation of changes/no changes to the model you're interested in. Why buy now when you may re-buy in two years + your present truck has such low mileage for a diesel. Squat, schmaat. Is a little bit of squat for the # of times you strap something onto it worth diving into a new truck??? Get air shocks or adjustable shocks or something like that for now. And in the meantime,.....

Sit tight!

Daryl

The real question is can you wait. They will be forever upgrading trying to up the competition. What pushed me to get an 04 was mostly cosmetic and I found a buyer for my old F150 that I could not pass up. I liked the 04 King Ranch colors and not the 05. Also did not like the other appearance changes mentioned in the 07s. Although the better PSD engine may be a plus I cannot wait for them to work out the kinks of the new system.

If you have found a good deal to sell your current F250 I would say go for an 04. Otherwise wait for your brother's plan renewal for next year. But your current truck seems to be working like a champ other than the once-in-a-while camper weight. Maybe you should just save your cash and address that issue with a mod.

As for getting a diesel I have heard the diesels keep their resale value better but that could just be rumor mill.

Yeah,I certainly should at least wait until then. Of course unless one orders some really funky truck, the deposit is most always refundable. Yes, my truck is still a champ. And I am still partial to that last body style. However it books for about 14200 on Kelly Blue Book. So am I going to lose more in the next 2 years of its equity, than I would buying a short term interim truck, and using the A plan later on. Which would only mean waiting till Nov to order. However I could get rid of my wifes Ford screw payment and have a new truck for about the same payment, and one less insurance bill as I drive an FX35 as my everyday car. LOL too much to think about. Of course the Lakers are getting the chevy kicked out of them right now,so what else is there to do. ; )
peace

I would wait till the 05 is released. If you don't like the looks of it there will be plenty of 04's still on the lots with better incentives.
