Hard time finding 5-20?

Ok, I have an 03 expy 5.4 that calls for 5w-20. I REALLY have a hard time finding this weight. I tried to change my oil this Sunday and went to
shops including Pep Boys, Autozone, Wal-mart, Target, Car Quest, O'reilly and NAPA. Either they didn't carry it or they only stock 6 bottles at a time.

I really prefer Castrol, but I am just having a hard time finding any brand in this weight. I had tried Castrol syntec blend and I truly saw a difference. The biggest being upon startup. First off, I park on a hill. When I use Motorcraft filters & Castrol 5-20, I would have a second or two of valve chatter on start up. The Syntec blend seemed to stop this.

Everyone talks about using Motorcraft oil from Wal-mart. I have 3 Wal-marts within 6 miles of me and NONE of them carry Motorcraft oil. They used to carry the Syntec I preferred, but they have stopped carrying the 5-20 and switched to carrying---5w--50!?

I also see reports of people using Mobil 1 in 5-20, but I have never ever even seen it tagged on the shelves.

I am in North Houston. Any ideas?

You can also find MotorCraft at Walmart. They also have other brands in 5W20 that are not a blend. One advantage of getting it at the dealer is that you can get 5 quart bottles. I buy those at the dealer and singles at Walmart to make up the 7 quarts I need for the 04.

Three answers have said Walmart but the original poster said he could not find it at his local walmart. I would guess because of your location the 5W20 grade is extremely unpopular. If you local NAPA is reasonable like mine is they could probably order you a case. If that fails I would have to say your next best bet would be 5W30. I think (correct me if I’m wrong) the owners manual says to use 5W30 if 5W20 is unavailable.

BlueRanger94, my 04 F150 owners manual does not list 5w30 as an alternative, nor, if my memory serves me correctly, did my 01 F150. I have a feeling that the Walmart may have just been out that day. I have seen this at my locla store. I am seeing more brands now than just MC at Walmart.

Thanks for the responses

Guys,

I appreciate the advice, however, I still have not ever seen Motorcraft on the shelves at my local Wal-mart. I've even checked the shelf tags and it just isn't there. Most of these places have only 1 facing (6-7 bottles) on the shelf and are usually sold out. I have a personal preference for Castrol. The only other 5-20 that I have seen is a Penzoil full synthetic for $4.24/qt. and I am not a Penzoil fan personally. I did try to get some of the stores to order in a case, but no luck. It was always "talk to the manager and he's not in".

AS for the suggestion of buying it from the Ford Dealership, the only dealership that is within 25 miles of my house SUCKS and I would urinate on them if they were on fire.

Tried the 800autoparts link. According to them, the closest location is 85.97 miles!

Come on, This is 5-20 oil that all new Fords are supposedly using? This is insane.

Ok I guess I was wrong. I do remember at one time someone saying that their owners manual said to use 5W30 if they could not get 5W20 but I don’t remember what year or model.
