turn signal

i have been having problems with the wiring for the lights of my 79 f 150 w/ a 400 and t 18 trans. i have solved all of them but one. The front and rear left turn signals do not blink when i use my left blinker. My right side works properly. Also my hazard flashers all work fine both the right and left. They blink properly. Does this mean i have a bad turn signal switch or is it some other problem?

I have had my right side turn sig fail similar to that. I took an air comressor and blew out the column where the indicator lever goes into the column. Apparently, there was an accumilation of crud in there avoiding a good connection as it worked after that. Might give it a try.

1. yes the switch is on the column behind the steering wheel.
2. Probably, I don't know how your wheel is mounted.

the turn signal switch is in inside the column right where the blinker arm is mounted, you will need a puller to get either the wheel or the adapter off the column shaft.

The turn signal switch work's by 2 small pieces of solid wire that move up and down to make contact with the proper connection. Usually it is an easy fix, you will need to do some adjusting of the solid wires to make sure they are making the proper contact. After messing around with it and a test light you should figure out what I mean

You can buy a new cam from most auto parts stores, cheap and easy to replace, with the wheel off. I suggest replacing the cam vice goofing with it, the problem will most likely come back. There are no adjustments that I know of as the two wires mentioned are fixed in the cam. I have a 76 F250 and have gone thru the same problems

the wire's are fixed to the switch, but they are fixed in the center on a pivot point. You can adjust those wire's by bending. I have done it with mine and it still work's fine.

All you get with the cam is just that, it does not include any other part's, you would have to change the whole switch
