You don't have to cut the line. I went to Advance Auto Supply and bought a tee. I put one end of the tee on the end of the MAP sensor hose, one with a small piece of hose on the MAP sensor and, the third outlet on the tee was a compression fitting thread where I attached the boost gauge line. I bought copper tubing to run into the inside and then coupled the plastic line to it inside the truck. It seemed to me having some cheap plastic tubing around all the heat of the engine was just not a good move....

That nylon hose that you are referring to is actually quite durable! I had an Autometer gauge in my Subaru for boost, and that nylon line ran near some pretty hot engine parts. Never once has it even came close to melting. It's been in the car for almost 2 years, and despite the road grime that is on the hose, there isn't a single thing wrong with it.

As for the copper tubing that you used from the MAP sensor to the nylon tube, how hard was that to run? Did you get any kinks in the line as you were running it?

I have melted a few of the plastic lines on my tractors. Also when using plastic lines with compression fittings, if you tighten too much it weakens the line right at the fitting. Some time later it breaks right there. I used the Advance Auto Supply gauge line kit. It is copper and the copper is soft. I had no problems running it. You must take care however to not try to make a tight bend (90 deg)just like with plastic. Just make a nice smooth radius bend and there are not problems. The only place you can see my boost line is where it enters the firewall.

Sweet! Is there a place where you can get that kit? Like a website or something?

I think most places have them like Autozone, Advance Auto Parts, and other chain stores. You can usually find around where they keep the gauges. I think it was just called "gauge line kit". If memory serves me right it was $8. Hope this helps.

Oh, one more thing. I routed mine up to the cowl and then over. There is some kind of sheathing there I stuck it in and then put tie wraps around both. I wormed it through the radiator overflow bracket in the same area and then down to one of the rubber grommets in the firewall.

Go with Autometer gauges... As for hookup and installation, this should tell you everything you need to know:

You're very welcome. I discovered that site from a past post, and bookmarked it cause I knew it'd come up someday. Plus, when I eventually install gauges, I want to know how to also!
