i had a similar problen but i had dash lights when the key was off they wernt very bright.when i turned the key over to start it they quit working.i tore my dash apart to make sure evey thing was where it was suppost to be .i touched the regulator on the cluster to the metal on the dash and presto lights.so i ran a wire from the screw holding the regulator down to a solid ground on the ysupport under the dash .my lights all work now
All of my guages work, except gas guage. Pretty annoying. I've been carrying an multimeter with me to check fuel level. Heading to junk yard Monday to search for instrument panel, and anything else that I might find.
Man, I love going to junk yards. My wife thinks I'm nuts though.
I have this wiring diagram hope it will work for you
regards
Chia
