I have a couple of questions about your setup.

Your Port Flow files should be at 28 inches H20. You Ford400 file gives 1.0 inch H20 pressure drop. This creates a large error.

Stock valve sizes are Intake is 2.04", and Exhaust is 1.65". You can increase the valve sizes to improve the flow, but the best results are at Intake = 2.15" and Exhaust = 1.65".

Your compression ratio is OK at 9.5:1, but how do you achieve this ratio. What piston combution chamber combination do you use?

You use a single Plane Intake manifold. These are available on E-Bay as used parts, but no manufacturers are making a Single Plane Intake now. The available Dual Plane Intakes provide better low end torque with only a small loss of peak Horsepower.

I would select the small cam, unless you are looking for low end torque and gas mileage.

Thanks for looking at it Danlee

I am using a single plane open plenum intake. It's a holley street dominator, supposedly I will receive better highway gas milage with this. My 9.5 compression is achived by flat top pistons and a decked head. You say use the bigger cam for better gas milage and low end torque? That is what I am looking for good gas milage and great torque. I just want to make sure that wasn't a typo.

Thanks for all the help I will post Pics when I put it back in

You will get better gas mileage and better low end torque with a dual plane manifold. Throttle response will be better also. Use a single plane only if you are going to be operating at 4000+ rpm all the time.

Do not use the Big Cam (272/284) for mileage, that is a performance cam. The Small Cam (266/280) is good for street performance. The Ford400 Cam (260/268) is better for mileage.

You should also use a Dual Plane Manifold. An Edelbrock Performer #2171, or a Weiand 8010.

Who makes that Ford400 260/268 cam?

The overlap with the Ford400 cam is 44 degrees. The Dynamic Compression Ratio is 8.0:1. It should run good on 93 Octane fuel, but not regular. It produces 456 ft-lbs torque@2000 RPM and at 2500 RPM. It rolls off after that, but it is still 417 ft-lbs@4000 RPM. the peak HP is 322@4500 RPM. This is with a dual plane manifold.

With a single plane manifold it is: 420 ft-lbs Torque@2000, 439@3000, 439@3500, and 421@4000 RPM. the peak HP is 329@4500 RPM.

The Ford400 cam and a dual plane intake will give the best fuel mileage and low end torque.

The Spec number looks like a Comp Cams grind number, but it is not a catalog item.

32-304-4 comes up as a valid grind # on Comp Cams website, and Summit gives a price, but it is not a ship-from-stock item.
