How do you stop a diesel?
Hi! I am an oil burner and proud of it! I have a really dumb, but interesting question; at least to me it is interesting.
When I got home today, it struck me as I turned my Power Stroke off. How do you shut down a diesel engine? The only way that I can think of in the case of a Power Stroke, is to kill the power to the injectors. I believe they are operated on 110 volts due to the strength of the solenoid that is required.

I believe on the psd, when you turn the key off, the ecm simply doesn't tell the injectors to inject anymore.
By the way, the injectors use high pressure oil (300 psi) to inject the fuel at 24000 psi. Just a note.
