Your opinion on the reliability of any product is going to be based on your personal experience.
I have owned several vehicles that are way down on Consumer Reports "Frequency of Repair" charts and thus, "Not Recommended" by CR. Yet my personal experience was very positive, so my opinion is that the CR chart is wrong for that vehicle. An example, my 2003 X. My 1999 SD.
I have also owned several POS, and there is no way that someone will convince me that any of them were ever any good.
For example, I owned a Lexus RX300. #1 on JD Powers and CR lists. I had more problems with it than my 1997 Caddy Catera, which is on the bottom of JD Powers and CR lists.
Go figure.
If you got a POS 6.0, your opinion will be that the 6.0 is a POS.
If you got a good 6.0, your opinion will be that the 6.0 is a great engine.
No sense arguing about it. Neither of you are going to convince the other.
This is such a profound statement and so true, it can happen to any of them.
Ok tn_mac, what's the point? What do you want everyone to say?
Aren't you on the phone to Ford? Why don't you just trade it in or sell it and be done with it? If I and some others are having a good experience, why whiz in our wheaties?
****ing in YOUR wheaties? This post is not about you, it's about a guy trying to find out how much risk he's taking buying a used 6.0PSD.
Well, as I said in the rest of the post, we're going round and round about that one. If I stay diesel, it will be a dmax. Maybe a used one until GM puts it in a 'burb. The 04 dmax I drove yesterday did have more turbo lag than my old LBF motor did. Seems to be a drawback of these variable vane turbos.
If I go back to gas, the door is wide open, I guess. Hummer really doesn't seem practical but it was sure neat to test drive. Excalade EXT with the HO 6.0 gasser is a nice truck and would work for me. Might take a good look at the Nissan Titan but I'm a little shy of 1st year stuff right now.
Also on the list is the Sequoia (sp?) and the larger Nissan SUV. I really don't want to go back to a pickup. The CC HD2500 we had was nice but I like having the back heated and enclosed, mostly for the hunting dogs in December and January pheasant hunting here in MN and Iowa.

You are leaving out the obvious, a 2005 X with the upgraded V-10 gasser.
I figured you'd catch that. I'm not sure I'm interested. I know I'd have to upgrade the suspension is the biggest negative there. That may be true of a lot of my choices, though. The H2 and the HD2500 are probably the only ones I've looked at that wouldn't need some help there.
OK Good air in. Bad air out. I'm in my happy place.
Let's all be careful to read only what is posted. Don't read something that is not there. If someone posts something that bothers you, reread it and make sure you read what is posted.
I know sometimes on a wordy post, I will speed read. This habit does occasionally cause me to misinterpret what the post really means.
I also have again started to read what I post before I hit the "Submit Reply" button.
In reading over this thread I see a few areas where the above would prevent some arguement as opposed to spirited discussion.

The H2 is meant for looks, not go. Only rated at 6000-6500 lbs towing. Just a fancy Tahoe.
4x4 X with the trailer tow group comes with the rear anti-sway bar. The only thing that needs to be added is better shocks and Timbrens or air bags. $600. Big deal.
With a gasser, you're going to need the X's 44 gallon tank.
for me its not about anything except ford and there inability to fix those of us with problems, it seems that the guys with good trucks just cant believe anyone could be having problems. I am glad for the good trucks and as I said before the fact that my last 3 super duty 7.3 were perfect has raised my expectations to the point that it was easy for me to buy the 6.0. I would have never believed ford would not or could not fix my truck. untill now, maybe I got the only bad one, but the person asked about the 2003 trucks and I gave my opion. sorry if I upset someone that was not my reason for my post just dont want any one else to go through what I have.
TIM
Did you take a look at the toyo open country tire I like mine so far I think I posted that they didnt offer E rated tires my mistake they offer in 265/75/16 and some smaller sizes.
No not yet, I still want to research the "wider" tire on stock rim and not any taller, must be "e".
Sounds like I want a gold plated spoon..........hum.... probably asking for something I cannot find. And so far, have not.

Agree. But the most I ever tow is 5000. I like the diesel for overkill and mileage but a Tahoe would work, really. The plus for the H2 is it has air bags from the factory. Not very practical, though.

Yeah, I know we're not talking about a lot of money but it just galls me to have to stick money into a 3/4 ton truck to be able to haul a 4-5k trailer. I could understand it on a 1/2 ton. My current Ex has the factory sway bar, BTW.

Ain't that the truth! Especially while towing. That was a big negative about my 01 HD2500 CC SB dmax/allison. 26 gallon tank! What a joke. Can you imagine the range with an 8.1 hauling a load? The long box picks up another 6 or 8 gallons.
