Howdy all!
I just inherited a 98 F-150 and have a slight problem. The rear cabin has a small leak that slowly allows rainwater onto the back seat (just enough to give the cabin that wonderful mildew aroma). I took the truck into a Ford dealership and they gave me an estimate of $200 to replace the seal. My question is: Is there some sort of caulking-type product availabe that I could use instead of what I think is too high a price for a water leak fix?
You could buy the parts to do it from the dealer for about 50 bucks. It is the butyl seal and a new cover for around the outside of the window. If you look thru previous threads you should be able to find the directions.
Had the same problem my self. Cracked frame. There is a TSB from ford on this. Pulled the window frame, installed the gusset seal (from the TSB) and a new butyl seal and hasn't leaked since. There are quite a few threads on this.
