3 speed to 5 speed

3 speed to 5 speed
I have a 1978 F100 w/ 300 and 3.03 3 speed tranny. What all would be involved in converting it to a 5 speed like a M5OD or the ZF? Would I have to put in a new clutch or driveshaft, or would it just need new mounts and shift linkage. I'm also looking into the possibilities of converting it to an automatic, so what would be invloved in converting to a C4(6) or AOD besides torque converter, mounts, and shifter. What shifters are the best, my friend uses a B & M and says it is pretty good. I was hoping maybe to be able to use the same clutch as I just replaced it not too long ago, however I am a big fan of the 1978-1979 Ford Flareside trucks so even if I wrecked this truck I would be able to use the parts so replacing the clutch is not that big of a deal. Also what are the advantages and disadvantages of these trannies, would the 5 speeds give a higher top speed, what is the durablity of these, I know the 3.03 is a strong tranny and I also have not had any problems with it, I don't tow anything so granny gears don't really mean anything to me.
