Pioneer reciever question

I was looking at a pioneer reciever for $169.99 and on it it said 50Wx4. Does this mean 50 watts for four speakers? Does it mean it delivers 50 watts toward each speaker and has 200 watts total? My uncle said it has 50 watts total and divides that amout by four and delivers it to the speakers. What does this mean?

No, it provides 50w for each channel, thus a total of 200w. Now this can be misleading though. If you read closer, thats peak wattage which means the speakers will not see that all the time. But you were right.

Does channel mean speaker? So I can have 50 watts per speaker. How often will the speakers see peak watts. How many watts will they usually recieve?

Out of the dash unit (receiver) it will se peak very little, at a normal volume for most, you might see between 3 and 5 watts, believe the pioneer units would put out 17 watts continuous. If you like it LOUD, then you would reside more to the upper end.
