Michelin LTX MS 265 70r 17
I just put Michelin LTX MS 265 70r 17 on my 2004 XLT, 2WD. They look great, and are really well made-- they had stellar user reviews at Tirerack website. I was also considering Pirelli Scorpions, but on examing both at Discount tires went with the Michelins.
They are handling well, tracking is right on / no pulling. They also sit half an inch higher than my buddies Wranglers RTS same size.
I feel a slight loss pickup starting out (not at highway speeds) and a I feel little more work in handling (just a bit). I'm sure this is from the added weight/mass at the wheel. Also with the 265 I have plenty of clearance at the wheel wells.
If you go to 285s handling and power may be become a bit of an issue, and it may be tight in the well without a lift or daystar.
