[B]...Tallest, Fatest, agressive looking, best ride, long lasting. to go on my Stock rims..
You are asking for a lot, why not add free to the list? What I have found regarding tires is agressivness and ride/noise do not go together. My last tires were agressive and they lasted forever due to the deep tread but the ride was horrible and they were NOISY. I replaced them with Bridgestone Dueler A/T's. They are really nice tires, great ride, and quiet!
Bump,
Sorry I need more input, I can Get Cooper Discoverys 265/70/17 for $470.00 OTD, best price on BFG AT KO's $880.00 OTD, do you think the 265's will be big enough, they are measuring 31.4 tall., or 285's too big????? remember $410.00 diff....
I have 14,500 miles on my Lariat Supercrew 4 x 2 that came with P265/60R18 BFG Radial Long Trail TA radials with raised white outline letters, which I ran with 36 PSI in each tire.. They were very good tires (quiet, smooth, and good in bad weather, including snow) and had only worn down 2/32" from the original 11/32" NEW (9/32" actual and legally useable) tread depth. Based on this, if you do the math.....those tires would have given me around 65,000 miles of service. But, I never really cared for the raised white letter look of these tires, and thought that a larger, SOLID blackwall, "fatter" and slightly "taller" tire with an agressive looking tread design would really look good on my truck
.....so.....
I just traded them in at Discount Tire Company (Got $40.00/tire) for (4) 285/60R18, "V" speed rated, KUMHO "ECSTA STX" solid blackwall radials (running 38 PSI in each tire).....which for cost reasons, I mounted on the 18" factory stock, LARIAT alloy wheels that came on the truck.....and in my opinion, they REALLY look GREAT!
The new KUMHO's ride even better than the original BFG's, they are quieter than the original BFG's, they are SUPERIOR in acceleration and braking performance than the original BFG's, and they are FAR SUPERIOR in cornering performance than the original BFG's!!
I will take some pictures of them in the next few days and post them in my gallery.
Most tire shops will thell you that Michelin is the best tire for handling, noise and durability for everyday use. All others have their advantages. I run BFG's on my 4x4 and Michelin on my 4x2.
I put over 150,000 Interstate miles on my previous PU, all the while shod with Michelins, purchased at premium prices.
When Michelin jacked their prices during the Firestone debacle (just because they could), I got p***ed and asked my tire-store owning friend to recommend another brand.
With a sheepish grin on his face, he recommended the Dayton Timberline L/T
I agree with F150Texan......but I have found that Discount Tire Company will MATCH and/or BEAT any price that Tirerack.com publishes.
Also, don't forget that Tirerack.com's advertised prices are for the TIRES ONLY.....and do NOT include shipping & handling (around $15.00/tire).....dismounting of your old tires....mounting of your new tires....balancing of your new tire/wheel combinantion.....old tire disposal fees ($2.00/tire here in NC)....mileage warranties.....and/or road hazard warranties.....and FREE rotation and balancing for the life of the new tires!!
EVERYTIME....and I repeat.....EVERYTIME I have shopped tirerack.com.....and compared them to Discount Tire Company's "out the door price" for the SAME EXACT TIRES.....Discount Tire Company has ALWAYS been LOWER!!!!
I checked out the link to Dayton tires...They dont list anything is 17 or 18" sizes....I have 18's on my FX4...and am finding tire choices very limited.......
Anyone else?
