93 2.3l getting better

It's been sick lately. Put new TP sensor in (had to break off the old one. Was loctite'd in), new coil packs. Had a code for tp sensor, but not coil packs. :/

Cured most of my power loss though.

Got the wrong PCV valve at the parts store. Have to exchange it tomorrow. That should cure the spitting.

She's still got pretty low compression though. I'm a little worried about that. She still seems sluggish off the start, and ran comp test. 120 psi at 5 strokes on all cylinders, +/- 4 psi.

This is in addition to:
New timing belt and tensioner
new injectors

Any suggestions other than rering?

KOEO codes as of now are
111 system pass

in mem
543 open fault fuel system secondary

120 seems like it's starting to trail off a little there. How many miles do you have on her? And just out of curiosity, did you remove the throttle body to get at your TP sensor? On mine it looked like I could get at it with a stubby phillips screwdriver, but I haven't really tried digging around at it. I'm doing that today.

I had to remove the upper intake and file down the sides of the screws and replace them. They were loctite'd on. :/ Stripped my screwdriver pretty quickly. If you have a larger phillips, like a #3 or so, would be best.

Also had to remove the IAC to get to it.

Has about 210k, so not too shabby for it's age.

Okay, got updates.

Ran great for about 5 mins after I replaced the coil packs. Then back to the same no power, spitting, popping, ugg.

She's idling stronger than ever though.

Replaced the FP relay.

Codes still at:
KOEO

111

cont mem

543

KOER

111

This is really starting to seem like it's an ICM issue. Not sure though. It may, however, be the fuel pump.

Getting a fuel pressure tester soon, then I'll know more.

It's a fuel pump problem, check an open, PCM to battery. I'll look the code up the next time I'm home and give you more details.

I had a chance to review the code and it's all about the fuel system, you need to run the pinpoint test J. Let me know if you need a copy, I can email it to you

Problem with the 543 is that it's intermitent. I cleared the codes and have driven for 2 days, and now I'm at
KOEO
111
KOER
111

I checked, and my timing belt slipped again (think I rotated it backwards last time). So I set again, and now it runs worse.

Backpressure maybe? I don't know.

Either way, something is fairly wrong under there, and I can't seem to figure out what.

I would like those pinpoint checks, if you would. Thanks.

If your timimg belt is slipping there's some thing wrong there, I would dig into that.

I dropped you an email.

I did.

It was running terribly. Couldn't figure it out until my dad reminded me about the cat.

It was completely clogged. Pulled it, dug it out and did a test run. Actually broke rubber on concrete. Just made a few neighbors mad as all heck tho. >-)

Welding it back on in the morning.

Also found a short under the bed when I was replacing the fuel pump. I may not have absolutely needed to do it, but it was gummed up something fierce. The bottom around the strainer inlet was actually rusting! Don't have the money to drain my tank and put fresh gas in atm, but I will soon.

Also found about 3 pounds of dirt around my fuel/electrical connecters.

I did, however, break one of the exhaust bolts though. Going to see if I can borrow a set of easy-outs. Think C-clamps will hold until next weekend.

If you ended up "gutting" the cat it will hurt your exhaust flow compared to a good cat.
